Jomtien (จอม เทียน) or Jomtien Beach (หาด จอม เทียน), also often written Chom Tian on road signs and road maps, is a place in Bang Lamung district of Chonburi province in eastern Thailand. Jomtien is located on the Gulf of Thailand, approximately 150 km southeast of Bangkok.
Jomtien is located south of Pattaya and is best known for its long beach, which is longer than the beach of Pattaya. It is also the place where many Thais have a second apartment and the family hotels are located. It is quieter in Jomtien than in Pattaya, but the nightlife is slowly but surely developing here. Jomtien is located along the Sukhumvit route.
Jomtien attracts many Thai tourists - especially on weekends. The city has a few kilometers of coast, with mainly high hotels and apartment buildings. The beach is a bit messy and consists of sand and fine gravel. The center of Jomtien is small and has a few dozen restaurants and shops. Pattaya is nearby and is a large city with many shops, bars, restaurants, night clubs and discos and is very tourism-oriented.
